Spelling Study - English भाषा में Spelling के कुछ महत्वपूर्ण नियम

 Spelling Study

English spellings present many difficulties for the reader as we do not conform to pronunciation. A letter stands for different sounds, such as –

‘A’ stands for ‘ah’ (आ) in farmer and ‘ae’ (ऐ) in rat. ‘c’ stands for ‘k’ (के) in cat and ‘s’ (स) in peace.

So we cannot depend upon rules in learning the spellings of this language. But we have to learn some rules also, such as –

Rules for Spellings

Rule (1) – Q के साथ सदैव u आता है, जैसे – Queen, quite, quarrel, quality, quick, question.

Rule (2) – यदि किसी शब्द के अंत में ‘full’ जोड़ा जाए तो ‘full’ का एक ‘L’ हटा देते है, जैसे – beautiful, harmful, faithful, blissful

Rule (3) – यदि किसी शब्द के अंत में Y हो तो शब्द के अंत में ‘full’ जोड़ते समय y को ‘i’ में बदलते है जैसे- Duty + full = dutiful

Beauty + full = beautifull

Rule (4) – यदि किसी शब्द के बाद, जिसके अंत में ‘L’ हो तथा ‘L’ से पूर्व कोई ‘vowel’ हो तो  Suffix लगाते समय ‘L’ को double कर देते है जैसे – Lable + ed  = Labelled

Travel + ed = Travelled

 अपवाद – parallel + ed = Paralleled

Rule (5) – यदि किसी शब्द के अंत में ‘will’ या  ‘well’ जोड़ा जाए, तो एक  ‘L’ कम नही होगा

जैसे -  Fare + well = farewell, Good + will = Goowill

Rule (6) – यदि किसी शब्द में  ‘I’  तथा  ‘e’ मिलकर ‘ee’ (ई) की ध्वनि दे तो पहले ‘I’ आएगा तथा ‘e’ बाद में जैसे – believe, nieve, piece, relieve, yield  अपवाद - seize

Rule (7) – यदि ‘ई’ ध्वनि से पूर्व ‘c’ हो तो ‘e’ पहले आयगा तथा ‘I’ बाद में जैसे – deceive, receive, conceive  अपवाद - neither, heir

Rule (8) – यदि किसी verb के अंत में  ‘e’ हो तो उसमे  ‘ing’ जोड़ते समय  ‘e’  हटा देते है 

जैसे - Come + ing = coming

Write + ing = writing

अपवाद - Be + ing = Being

Rule (9) – यदि किसी verb के अंत  में ‘ee’, ‘oe’, ‘ye’ हो तो उसमे ing जोड़ते समय कुछ भी नही हटाते जैसे – Agree + ing = Agreeing

See + ing = Seeing

Shoe + ing = Shoeing

Eye + ing = Eyeing

Rule (10) – यदि verb के अंतिम अक्षर (w, r, y) को छोड़कर के पहले single vowel हो तो  ing लगाते समय अंतिम अक्षर को दो बार लिखते है जैसे-

Sit + ing = sitting

Beg + ing = Begging

Swim + img = Swimmimg

Get + img = Getting

अपवाद - Pardoning, Opening, Burning
